About me

Leandro Lafont is a male soprano specializing in historically informed performance practice—possessing a solid coloratura facility yet finding his truest artistic home in the expressive, flowing lines of lyric soprano and high mezzo-soprano repertoire—with a particular passion for Baroque vocal music and theatrical interpretation.

He began his musical education at the National University of Colombia. He then continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, where he shaped his artistic profile under the guidance of tenor Gerd Türk and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Music. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Interpretation at the Hochschule für Musik Basel in the class of Isolde Siebert, as well as a specialized Master’s degree in Baroque Singing at the Haute École de Musique de Genève under contralto Nathalie Stutzmann. In 2025, he further expanded his training by completing a certificate in Elementary Music Pedagogy in Germany.

As a soloist, he has collaborated with renowned conductors and ensembles such as Andrea Marcon, Gabriel Garrido, Daniela Dolci, Concerto Köln, Musica Fiorita, and Ensemble Damian, performing in opera and concert productions across Europe and Latin America.

His artistic work is characterized by Baroque gestures, historical interpretation, and an intensive exploration of 17th- and 18th-century vocal repertoire. He is currently a member of the Baroque ensemble La Font, which is dedicated to performing early sacred and secular music.

Alongside his artistic career, he has taught voice, piano, recorder, and early childhood music education at various music schools in Germany, including the Kreismusikschule Kaiserslautern, the Kreismusikschule Kusel, and Musikrearte.
